CPS offers extended warranty coverage for a wide range of consumer electronics, including drones. This plan is designed to help cover flight issues and accidental damage that can occur during normal recreational use.

Coverage begins based on the date of purchase and provides up to two years of protection (it covers accidental drops and crashes, as well as mechanical, hardware, and electrical failures).

How it works

Soon after you purchase a CPS plan with DroneNerds, you will receive an email from CPS with your warranty details

From there you will register and login to the CPS Client Portal to see your warranty details and complete any registration needs.

FILING A CLAIM

Customers can file claims easily via the CPS Client Portal, just login to your portal to start the claim process and you will receive all the info you need as well as a pre-paid label to send to an authorized repair facility.

The CPS Accidental Drone Warranty covers full parts and labor for internal hardware failure, along with Accidental Damage Protection. This plan is intended for recreational and commercial drones. A deductible applies at the time of claim.

This contract does not cover the first 30 days from date of purchase. This contract does not cover lost or stolen products, or any add-on accessories.

Yes. The CPS Accidental Drone Warranty covers physical damage, impact damage, water damage, excessive damage, and crash-related incidents.

Yes, this plan covers both recreational and commercial drones.

Yes. If the camera or gimbal is included in the box from the manufacturer, it is covered under the CPS warranty.

No. Batteries are considered consumables and are not covered.

Replacing a drone’s propellers is considered maintenance and is not covered under warranty. Propellers are user-replaceable parts. Depending on the manufacturer, it is recommended to replace propellers if you notice a change in flight performance or experience noisy or unbalanced flight.

The CPS Accidental Drone Warranty begins on the end user’s purchase date.
There is a 30-day claims hold to prevent DOAs or manufacturer defects. CPS coverage begins on day 31. Any claims that occur during the first 30 days are not covered.

Unfortunately, no. If a unit is lost, the CPS warranty coverage is voided.

The deductible is based on the value of the drone covered under the contract.


For units under $250, the deductible can be as low as $30.


For units under $3,500, the deductible is $250.

Claims can be filed by phone, email, through your CPS Client Care account, or via chat on the CPS website.
You will need to submit:

  • CPS Membership ID number
  • Drone serial number
  • Copy of purchase receipt

You may file unlimited claims during the warranty period. Coverage will end once total repair costs reach the original purchase price of the drone.

After the deductible payment is made, you will be directed to ship your drone. The Drone Nerds program includes prepaid shipping to CPS’s depot repair facility. Once received, depending on the manufacturer, the drone will either be repaired by CPS’s in-house Drone Repair Center or sent directly to the manufacturer.

At this time, local repairs are not permitted, as CPS must be able to control the quality of the repair

Yes. Coverage will remain in place until the contract expires, unless the drone is replaced under warranty.

Unfortunately, no. Once the drone is replaced, the CPS contract is considered fulfilled. You may purchase a new Drone Warranty for the replacement unit.
