Three things. The primary camera moved to a 1-inch 50 MP sensor on a new image-processing platform with up to 14 stops of dynamic range and 4K/120 slow motion, and both cameras gained Free panorama. The 3S added forward LiDAR for nightscape omnidirectional sensing and next-gen Smart RTH, including return without GPS. And it moved to O4 transmission for a more stable, higher-quality link.
The RC-N3 uses your phone as the display through the DJI Fly app, with USB-C and Lightning cables in the box, and it lowers the combo price. The RC 2 has a built-in screen, so no phone mounting and better visibility in sun. Aircraft and everything else in the box are identical.
Yes. At 724 g it's well over the 250 g threshold, so recreational flyers in the US register with the FAA and complete the free TRUST test. Commercial use requires Part 107. It also broadcasts Remote ID out of the box.
No. 4K/120fps is recorded in Slow Motion mode. The 14-stop dynamic range figure applies to video in Auto mode, not to vertical or slow-motion video.
It's the first DJI drone with forward LiDAR, and it does detect buildings and climb over them in low light. DJI's condition: surfaces need discernible texture and more than 1 lux of light. Treat it as a safety net, not a license to fly blind.
Not to start. 42 GB is built in, and you can offload to a phone or computer even with the drone off. Most owners add a card for long trips.
