The most advanced consumer/entry-level professional drone from DJI, the Phantom 4 Pro+ V2.0, is now available with an OcuSync HD controller and a 5.5-inch screen.

This Phantom 4 Pro+ V2.0 does not require you to link a smartphone or tablet to the remote controller to see where the drone is going and the videos it is recording. The 5.5-inch monitor is made specifically for the controller. It’s considerably brighter than a smartphone or tablet screen, making it easier to fly the quadcopter in bright daylight. The OcuSync transmission program can send video images live in high definition at distances up to 4.3 miles—a seriously long range. Imagery transmitted to the 5.5-inch screen is clear and detailed.

Like other Phantom 4 Pros, the P4P+ V2.0 flies with stability, maneuverability, a 30-minute flight time, and both obstacle recognition and obstacle avoidance. Return to Home still comes on automatically if battery reserves run low. And it does all of this more quietly than ever, perfect when flying in sensitive areas or at events, including weddings.

Phantom 4 Pro+ V2.0 records video and stills at a level of quality needed not only for weddings, but also for covering TV news, shooting commercials and recording video for quality web pages. The ultra-high-definition 4K video is recorded at up to 60 frames per second, and remarkably crisp 20MP stills have high clarity due to the camera’s remotely selectable stops in its dynamic range.

And for the first time, because if its new OcuSync HD transmission technology, a Phantom 4 Pro+ V2.0 can link wirelessly to optional DJI Goggles for a completely immersive flight experience and control by head movement.

Phantom 4 Pro+ V2.0 features:

  • Ready To Fly
  • Obstacle sensing: 5-way
  • Obstacle avoidance: 4-way
  • Redundant sensors: obstacle avoidance, dual compasses, dual IMUs
  • Range: 4.3 miles
  • Maximum flight time: 30 minutes
  • Top speed: 45 mph
  • Big 1-inch sensor
  • 5.5-inch video monitor for controller
  • 4K video @ 60fps
  • 20MP stills, up to 14fps bursts
  • Mechanical shutter that eliminates rolling distortion
  • Wireless compatibility with DJI Goggles (not included)
  • Active-Track for locking onto and tracking subjects

Phantom 4 Pro+ V2.0 and OcuSync HD, Ultra-Bright Monitor

OcuSync HD, the most sophisticated transmission system from DJI, is standard on the Phantom 4 Pro+ V2.0. It sends commands and transmits/receives video transmissions up to 4.3 miles. OcuSync transmits in two frequencies: 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz. It automatically and seamlessly switches between the two frequencies to avoid interference. Video transmits in 1080p or 720p high definition, depending on the distance to base. He quadcopter’s camera still records in higher 4K video.

The 5.5-inch 1080p monitor, which attaches directly to the remote controller, has the DJI Go 4 app built right in. It’s more than twice as bright as conventional devices you would otherwise have to attach to the controller to view onscreen commands and imagery transmitted by the drone.  The controller has a 5-hour battery life for a day of serious flying and recording.

With OccuSync, you also can connect DJI Goggles wirelessly to the Phantom 4 Pro+ V2.0, allowing you to take advantage of the full range of DJI Goggles capabilities. With the optional goggles, you can visually immerse yourself in the Phantom 4 Pro+ V2.0 flight. You also can issue commands with head movements. You can buy DJI goggles separately from Drone Nerds.

Quieter Operation

Phantom 4 Pro+ V2.0 has two new features that make it considerably quieter than earlier P4s. The first is quieter propellers. The Phantom 4 Pro+ V2.0 comes with four pairs of the new propellers. Additional spares are available from Drone Nerds. The other new parts contributing to quieter operation are new motors.

The combination results in 4dB lower noise generated when flying—a reduction of 60 percent.

Fly Phantom 4 Pro+ V2.0 Right Out of the Box

The Phantom 4 Pro+ V2.0 comes Ready To Fly. That means only minor, non-soldered assembly is required. Everything you need is in the box, except for your smartphone or tablet, either of which you will connect by USB cable to the remote controller.

High-Performance Camera for Improved Imagery

The capabilities of the camera make a very clear “Pro” statement. The 1-inch CMOS sensor more than doubles the pixels in non-Pro Phantom 4 cameras. It provides more definition in both video and stills.

More Phantom 4 Pro+ V2.0 camera highlights:

True 4K video: You’d have a tough time discerning 4K video shot by a Phantom 4 Pro+ V2.0 from 4K video shot by cameras on higher-priced quadcopters. A motorized 3-axis gimbal keeps the video shake-free. The 60fps speed makes P4P+ V2.0 video an ideal candidate for conversion to slow motion. The output is increased to 100Mbs from 60Mbs on most earlier Phantom 4 models. This is true professional-level video that’s suitable for shooting TV news, commercials, features, advanced web pages, weddings and indoor/outdoor events.

20MP stills: The bigger sensor takes stills to an outstanding 20MP on the Phantom 4 Pro+ V2.0, up from 12MP on earlier P4s. And the maximum burst rate doubles to 14fps from 7fps on earlier P4s. Those are huge improvements for professional photographers.

Adjustable aperture: Remember when you had to attach a filter on bright days to reduce the light entering through the Phantom 4’s fixed f2.8 aperture? On the Phantom 4 Pro, you can adjust the aperture through a dynamic range of f2.8 to down to f11, directly from your remote controller. That’s helpful for taming bright sunlight and for increasing depth of field. Optional filters, of course, are still accommodated.

Distortion-free shutter: The mechanical shutter on the Phantom 4 Pro+ V2.0 prevents rolling distortion. If you have shot really fast action from an earlier Phantom 4, you might have encountered distortion. A photo of a race car, for instance, would produce oblong tires because the camera couldn’t freeze action that fast. Now the rotating tires look like tires, not like a distant galaxy spinning in space.

Shutter speeds: The mechanical shutter has manually adjustable speeds from 8 seconds for time exposures to 1/2000 second for freezing action. The electronic shutter adjusts from 8 seconds to 1/8000 second.

DJI Go 4 Flight Program Provides Complete Control

You need a flight program that does more than tell your drone how fast and in which direction to go. How about a program that provides total camera control, with onscreen adjustments for aperture, ISO, shutter and shooting formats? That’s DJI Go 4. Maybe you want changes in flight data to show up immediately in front of you. Or you want to easily check video transmission data. Maybe you want to be reminded of what flight mode you’re in. It’s all there with DJI Go 4, along with a variety of helpful flight modes.

Automatic Flight Modes

TapFly: Just tap on the screen to point your drone in that direction. It will automatically avoid obstacles, unless you’re in TapFly Free. In Tap Fly Free, the drone goes in the direction you tell it but you can separately control the camera and gimbal. That leaves your hands free to concentrate on aerial video or photography, not on flying the aircraft. With TapFly Forward, the Pro+ V2.0 will go forward to where your tap points it, with the camera and gimbal straight ahead. In TapFly Backward, the drone flies backwards in the direction opposite of where you tapped on the screen, with the camera and gimbal again aimed to the front of the aircraft.

Draw: Here’s another program that lets you concentrate on controlling the camera on your Phantom 4 Pro. Use your finger to draw your route onscreen, and the aircraft will follow it. Draw Standard allows the drone to follow the indicated path with the camera facing the direction of flight. Draw Manual really helps with creative video and photography by telling the drone to follow the path only when you command it to move, while you aim the camera wherever you want.

Return to Home: This program is your security blanket when you signal the Phantom 4 Pro+ V2.0 to return to base. It also automatically boots when the signal is lost. The aircraft follows the safe path it just took, or if that path is unavailable, it finds its way using GPS and obstacle avoidance.

Active Track Locks Onto Your Subject

A lone pilot who also has to operate the camera will appreciate ActiveTrack. The program makes it much easier for a solo operator to take quality video and photos by locking onto and tracking the subject. The aircraft adjusts to the subject’s speed, whether he slows or speeds up. Available are three modes:

Trace: Follow in front of or behind the subject, using obstacle avoidance.

Profile: Follow alongside the subject, presenting different angles.

Spotlight: Recognize and keep the subject in the frame while you fly in any direction, looking for the unusually expressive shot. This works best with a still or slow-moving subject.

More Sensors for Advanced Obstacle Detection

The Phantom 4 Pro+ is safer to fly than earlier Phantom 4 drones because it has more sensors to detect obstacles. Older Phantom 4 aircraft had sensors up front. The Pro+ V2.0 has sensors on the front, both sides, the bottom and the back. It will sense obstacles in all those directions. It will avoid obstacles in the front, sides and back. P4P+ can sense obstacles as close as 7 inches and as far away as 23 feet at up to 31 mph—really useful if you’re flying near trees or indoors. The security from five-directional sensing generates confidence to get in, get a difficult shot, and get out safely.

Dual Compasses, Dual IMUs for Reliability

Professionals can’t afford to scratch a mission because a drone’s positioning hardware fails. That’s why the Phantom 4 Pro+ V2.0 has redundant compasses and IMUs. If one of either fails, the redundant sensor takes over, and the flight continues. Reliance on the backup sensor is seamless. Phantom 4 Pro+ V2.0 also relies on two satellite systems: GPS and GLONASS, the Russian system. If GPS becomes unavailable, the other system can be used.

Long Range, Dual Frequencies

The Phantom 4 Pro+ V2.0 remote controller operates at up to 4.3 miles. Video is transmitted by OcuSync in 1080p, or 720p at farther distances. Two frequencies are available for transmissions: 2.4Ghz and 5.8Ghz. The Pro+ V2.0 will switch between frequencies automatically if it senses interference from cell towers, WiFi or some other source. FPVLR range extenders are available through DroneNerds.com. Professional installation by DroneNerds DJI-certified technicians is recommended. It’s affordable and takes only a few days when service is arranged online and your controller is shipped to DroneNerds.

Intelligent Flight Batteries, Long Flight Time

The DJI Intelligent Flight Battery is the smartest drone battery on the market, and that makes it highly reliable. It’s smart enough to prevent overcharging or over draining. It even protects against damage during storage by slowly discharging power. An Intelligent Flight Battery tells you, through the DJI Go 4 flight program, how much power it has in reserve. Reserve running low? Return to Home mode will get your Phantom 4 Pro+ safely back to base before power is gone. But don’t worry: Each battery gives the Phantom 4 Pro+ up to 30 minutes of flight time.

Remembering the important Things

When you return to base for a fresh battery, the Phantom 4 Pro+ remembers its takeoff spot and lands there, making landings easier. It then returns to the precise spot where you had been recording, because it remembers that, too. Since you flew there safely, P4P+ V2.0 remembers the flight path. When Return to Home is activated, whether by you or automatically by the flight program when a signal is lost, the aircraft uses the safe path to get back to base.

Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 Without Screen

If you’re content with linking a tablet or smartphone to your remote controller, rather than linking the ultra-bright 5.5-inch screen, consider the Phantom 4 Pro V2.0. It’s also available from Drone Nerds.

Q5. HOW DO I IDENTIFY REFURBISHED PRODUCTS?

The serial number of refurbished products will end with an "R".

Q6. WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PACKAGE?

Refurbished models include everything that is found in a new package.

What’s in the box? Phantom 4 Pro+ V2.0 quadcopter, remote controller with built-in display, Intelligent Flight Battery, charger, four pairs of propellers, power cable, gimbal clamp, USB On-the-Go cable, microUSB cable, carrying case.

Are the Phantom 4 Pro and Phantom 4 Pro+ identical quadcopters? Yes. Only the remote controllers are different, with the Pro+ controller having a built-in display and improved connectivity.

What advantages do I get with a built-in display? Visually, the built-in display is superior. With more than twice the brightness of a phone or tablet, it provides a far more visible, richer view in bright sunlight. Setup is easier and quicker, too, because there’s no smartphone or tablet to connect and no cable to worry about.

Is the Phantom 4 Pro+ Ready To Fly? Yes, with only non-soldered connections needed.

Do I have to guard against rolling distortion when shooting moving subjects or flying fast? The mechanical shutter of the Phantom 4 Pro+ prevents rolling distortion. It is more capable of stopping action than an electronic shutter.

Can the camera shoot 4K video? Yes, 4K video @ 60fps.

What is the camera’s best still photo resolution? 20MP shot in 3/5/7/10/14fps bursts.

Is the camera capable of slow motion? The 60fps recording speed in 4K video allows slow motion that is smooth, professional-quality and TV-ready.

Does the camera lens zoom? No. The lens is a fixed length. Close-ups can be obtained by flying closer to the subject.

Is the camera lens inechangeable? No.

Are the gimbal and camera removable? No, they are permanently mounted.

Will the Phantom 4 Pro deliver results that I can use as a professional videographer who shoots weddings, commercials, TV news features and webpage video? Absolutely. Aerial 4K video shot from a P4P+ is hard to separate from 4K video shot from more expensive quadcopters. The 3-axis gimbal stabilizes it, and the 60fps rate lets you edit for slow motion. Video output is improved at 100mbps, up from 60 in the Phantom 4. H.264 and H.265 capabilities also are built in. The field of view is 84 degrees, compared with 91 degrees on older models of the Phantom4, and the dynamic range is greater, improving detail.

Is the aperture fixed as on earlier Phantom 4 models, or is it adjustable? The aperture is manually adjustable from your remote controller, from f2.8 down to f11. Filters also are accommodated.

What is the maximum ISO setting? ISO 6400 on video, and ISO 12800 on stills.

Am I limited to the 16GB of memory on the included micoSD card? You can insert a card with a maximum memory of 128GB.

How much time will I need to adjust to flying the Phantom 4 Pro+? You’ll have all the time you need by using the Beginner Mode, then progressing as your skills improve and you learn the aircraft’s flight traits.

Obstacle sensing works in how many directions? Five: front, back, sides, bottom.

Obstacle avoidance works in how many directions? Four: front, sides, back.

Can I fly in rain or snow? No.

Can I fly in cold weather? Down to 32 degrees.

How fast can I fly? Up to 45 miles per hour in Sport Mode. The Phantom 4 Pro+ can accelerate at more than 19 feet per second and descend at nearly 13fps.

How does TapFly work? Just tap an area on the screen and the drone will go there, using obstacle avoidance to arrive safely.

Explain Active Track. This program has several modes, all of which lock on a subject and help a single operator take quality aerial video while piloting the drone. In Trace, the aircraft flies in front of or behind a subject, avoiding obstacles. In Profile, the drone follows beside the subject . With Spotlight activated, the subject stays in the frame as the pilot maneuvers in any and all directions for a good shot.

How do I know which transmission frequency to use — 2.4Ghz or 5.8Ghz? The Phantom 4 Pro+ knows. It will automatically choose one frequency or the other to avoid interference that it detects. The pilot also can switch between the two if the signal is interrupted.

What is the video transmission range? 4.3 miles.

Are range extenders available? Yes, but professional installation of FPVLR range extenders by DJI-trained Drone Nerds technicians is recommended. It’s economical and takes only a few days.

What are the advantages of Draw? To use Draw, simply use a fingertip to draw a route on an onscreen map, and the Phantom 4 Pro+ will follow it. That leaves your hands free to concentrate on capturing video. In Standard, the camera points forward as the drone moves forward. In Manual, the drone moves along the route only when you tell it to, and the camera can point in any direction.

How does the Phantom 4 Pro use its memory? The P4P+ can go back to the precise spot where it had been shooting after returning to base for a fresh battery. It remembers where it took off so that it can return home. And it records its route as it flies, so that if Return to Home is activated, it retraces that safe route back to base.

Can the P4P+ shoot aerial selfies? Sure. Just give it the appropriate hand commands. It will recognize them and do the work.

How do I continue to fly if a compass or an IMU fails? The Phantom 4 Pro+ has dual compasses and dual IMUs. If either a compass or an IMU fails, the redundant sensor takes over, making the Phantom 4 Pro+ extremely reliable.

Does obstacle avoidance work during Return to Home? Yes, whether you activate Return to Home or the flight program activates it when it realizes the battery is low or the signal has been lost.

Why are they called Intelligent Flight batteries? They really are smart little things. They prevent overcharging and excessive draining, both of which damage lesser batteries. They even slowly discharge power during storage to keep the battery healthy. DJI Go shows how much power is in reserve and warns if reserve power is in danger of falling too low to get back home.

Is landing difficult? Not really. Certainly, experience helps, but the Phantom 4 Pro+ memorizes its takeoff point and recognizes it when it returns to base to make landings smoother. Catching your drone upon its return is not the safest practice, but the sturdy, fixed landing gear on the Phantom 4 Pro+ simplify that task — especially helpful if you’re filming over water and are landing on a boat being pitched by waves.

What’s in the box? Phantom 4 Pro+V2.0 quadcopter, remote controller with built-in display, Intelligent Flight Battery, charger, four pairs of propellers, power cable, gimbal clamp, USB On-the-Go cable, microUSB cable, carrying case.
